Tavira Portugal

A personal post today as we just got back from a break in Tavira, Portugal.  We love this part of Portugal as some parts of it are still very unspoilt by too much tourism.  Every time we go we discover another little gem and this time was no exception.  We visited the Cacela Velha with its little church and village and stunning views across the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the atlantic beyond.  We went to Alcoutim and walked around the pretty town that was so quiet with little steep streets that was like stepping back in time.  We got a boat across the river Guadiana and visited Spain on the other side.  A short hop across the water and the food and culture is completely different – and cheaper!   We also drove to Vila Real St Antonio and got the ferry to Spain on a separate day and sampled the most fantastic tapas!  We visited a food market which had the freshest produce that would make the most reluctant cook want to buy something and have a go.  Why is our food so rubbish over here?  There is no comparison really, when I thought about my weekly visit to Tescos it was pretty depressing.  I hope you enjoy some of my holiday pics.
