Re designing a website in lockdown
Photography work has been sporadic during the last year during lockdowns but this has given me the time to get a few things sorted that I had been meaning to do for ages. Finally I redesigned my website and after an awful lot of swearing, sitting in front of my computer for hours on end trying to figure it out I have finally finished the new design. I had only ever used the wordpress.com templates for my site before but I found myself at the stage where I needed more flexibility over the design. I wanted to add an ecommerce page to sell some prints and my previous site was just not compatible, even though it said it should be!
So I bought a third party theme and was still struggling to get it to work. Finally I had to call in a professional – Mike Smith Design – who sorted the woo commerce side for me amongst other things and I switched to a different host. There is only so much you can do by yourself and my limited web building skills were not cutting it.
So with a few more tweaks here and there and a huge sigh of relief my new site is here with a shop page for fine art prints. What do you think?
