I photographed a wonderful full refurb including loft and kitchen extension for Elena Rowland Architects. This Victorian house over three floors and with a large basement has been completely transformed to create a modern, five bedroom house with large kitchen at the rear. It has retained many original features such as fireplaces and high ceilings adding to the character of this old building. Light has been introduced wherever possible with large windows, skylights and doors. A door from the lounge leads to a small outside space which carries through to the kitchen via another door. This adds natural light to the lounge but also a quirky route to the kitchen rather than through the hallway. This would also be great in the summer when it is hot and you could open up the doors from the back. Lovely project to shoot for Elena.

So a New Year starts once more and mine was a fairly long trip up to Liverpool on the 2nd to photograph The University of Liverpool International College. This is a brand new build and fit out in a brand new complex. There is still lots of construction going on around the building as theirs was one of the first finished. The build is designed with two atriums, one is the entrance to the college and the other where the canteen is located on the ground floor. The interior consists of break out areas, meeting rooms, lounge areas, classrooms, offices, kitchen, boardroom and reception. The space is light and welcoming with lots of glass at the front of the building and in the ceilings of the atriums. In the welcoming atrium a large seating area tiers down from the first floor to an open seating area on the ground floor flanked by a staircase with led lighting and glass partitions.
The furniture is functional and contemporary, but not what you would expect from a school or college, its far better than that! Lovely job to photograph for Office Portfolio, worth the journey.

Old London houses are amazing. They are full of character and charm with many original features such as fireplaces, cornicing and leaded lights. They have the lived in feel that you only get with houses that have been occupied for many years by different families. With new builds you just don’t get that, they often feel soul less, empty and sometimes pretty cold.
The only trouble is, is that the rows of London houses with their tiled pathways, windows with large concrete window sills, beautiful wooden front doors with glass fanlights over the top with either the name of the house or the number, are just too small for growing families. These two up two downs are oozing charm but a bit on the small side once you start to expand your family.
Lots get extensions added on to the back to provide modern large kitchen family rooms which transform family life, giving much needed extra space whilst blending perfectly with the old style of the house. Modern and old have always worked well together when done tastefully and thoughtfully.
This London home is no exception and has created a beautiful family home with the help of a kitchen and loft conversion by Plus Rooms.

Gardens, whether it be a back garden, a communal open space or a private terrace are designed to give enjoyment, calmness and an environment to reflect in and unwind. Gardens that are designed to function in a working environment have to tick a lot of boxes and often have less than favourable conditions to make them work. Office spaces often utilise their top floor outside terraces to create an extended workspace outside. These areas are used not only for relaxing in but also as outside meeting spaces and entertainment areas.
This outside terrace designed by Tom Stuart-Smith was complemented by the majestical St Paul’s Cathedral in the background, not a bad backdrop to have to your work. I love the vibrant colours of the grasses and the purples in these shots which were taken just after some rain on quite an overcast day.

Fabulous commercial interior photography shoot in London in a top location overlooking the majestic St Pauls Cathedral was the location of the latest office fit out that I photographed. Stunning office furniture by Arper, Naughtone, Vitra and Brunner. The artwork throughout really is something special in this office, it takes this new fit out to a different level.
